Down the Mekong

Border crossing into Laos from Thailand in Chang Kong.

We arrived to the ferry terminal of long boats toward Luang Prabang bright and early. A 2 day journey was ahead of us along the river that serves as a vital artery to Laos, such that it is even portrayed on their flag as the blue stripe among the color red.

Our slow boat before being filled up with tourists.

This cute dog was following us around as we were waiting for departure.

Slava was close to picking up some papaya straight from the tree.

Beginning our journey...

Bamboo fishing rods, entangled by a net.

We passed by many small villages along the way with boats docked at shore and kids playing in the muddy water.

The landscapes were evolving with every new turn. The mountains grew higher and vegetation denser as we cruised inland.

Tiny little boy carrying his even smaller brother.

Laos classical fishing boat.

A little waterfall cutting through the rocks into the river.

Next day was just as beautiful, but we were ready to arrive at our destination even though we had 9 more hours on the boat.

Fishing boat on the foreground of a massive mountain. Anna was excited to make this shot as the boat was flying fast beside us.

Pictures don't do justice to this scenery.

Waves in the sky.
